The Walkmen

The Walkmen are from west Harlem, up towards the top of Manhattan and over by the river. The band is made up of Hamilton Leithauser (vocals), Peter Bauer (Organ), Walter Martin (bass), Paul Maroon (guitar), and Matt Barrick (drums).   In the summer of 2000, the five members built and analogue studio in an abandoned Nash Rambler car factory.  They named the place Marcata Studios, and recorded three records there over the next six years. During that time the band began touring around the United States, and then on to Europe, Brazil, and Japan.  They have released three records, Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me is Gone (2002), Bows and Arrows (2004) and A Hundred Miles Off (2006).  The guys are currently recording a fourth record in Brooklyn and Philadelphia, which they plan to have out in the Spring of 2006.  It is absolutely fantastic.
